Excuse me while I have a mommy moment....

Aaron, all of two years old

I nearly melted into a warm gooey puddle of mommy-mush
when I stumbled across this photo today.

Those golden curls get me everytime.

Red Alert

(Actress Emma Stone, Credit: Valerie Macon/Getty)

I sometimes ponder why God didn't make me a ginger?

I mean, for really--  How glorious is her hair!?

I'd love me some fiery red locks....

And speaking of red--

Have you seen the movie Bridesmaids yet?

Starring Kristen Wiig, who I think

might just be the funniest woman alive....

{heart}

Insanely comical.
But crude.
But hysterically funny....
....but crude.

I've gotta say I'm totally crushing on
Kristen's red hot mani she sports throughout the movie.

So much so, I had to go out and get me my own.

Deeply In Love from Nicole by OPI.

You know what ladies--
I'm just gonna go out on a limb here
and say...

~Life Changing~

Amazing what a freshly lacquered set of talons can do for a woman.

This afternoon,

I think I might leap some tall buildings,

climb a mountain,

single-handedly stop a runaway train

....and maybe wrestle a bear.

Yesirree, amazing.

Artsy

Warning! A tad self indulgent :)
Along with my sis-in-law, I also got to play model-for-a-day.
As I mentioned in an earlier post, my sister Kirsten has been busy creating unique, beautiful hair combs and head pieces to sell in the salon she works at.
The Objective: to collect enough photos to put together a look-book artistically displaying her designs.
We managed to get a few decent photos that day, however, we only captured a few really good shots of the head pieces themselves.  Oh well!  We truly are learning as we go :)

Aaron's Hair

Just in time for summer, or maybe just inspired by his dad....
 Aaron's new haircut.

I thought he was looking particularly handsome this morning on his way out to school.

'Come on, MOM!! Can we go now?!!!'

'Til Next Time, May

This past weekend (Saturday actually) was a sight to behold, or loathed entirely rather.  Another bout of snow, or, I hate to admit-- a blizzard. This is what we laid our depressed eyes on, Sunday morning:

Eww, right?!
The good news is it took only a mere day for it all to disappear.

Among other things this weekend, I rescued a red Skittle out of Ava's left nostril, cheered for Aaron at inline, had an all day Star Wars-a-thon (Aaron was in heaven) and enjoyed a night out with the family at our friend's house.

Last night, after receiving news of a frost warning (thanks Garry!) for the first time in my greenthumb-loving life-- I covered my beloved garden with an old sheet.  I figured if my gramma was losing sleep at night over my garden, would it really be too much to kindly cover it up with a little blankey.

Of course not.

These, I call my button flowers.  I think they look like lovely little buttons- and I love them :)
Actually, as you can see from the pik, they are titled 'English Daisies'.

Also, Ava finally got her first real haircut.
For the first two years of her life we battled potential mullet formation with little trims to the hairs on the base of her neck.
The following two years, many a bang trim.
And finally, yesterday, the whole kitten-caboodle.
I'll have to ask Kirsten how many inches she thinks she may have taken off.  Her hair had nearly grown down to her cheeks!

Today, being June the first.  I will be looking forward to a seasonably warm month with the anticipation of Dallas' high school graduation (coming this weekend!), the ending of school, the unexpected song of the ice cream truck passing by, wandering Farmer's Market and maybe a glimpse of baby goslings at the lake.

June?  Where have you been all my life.

Happy 100th Post!

Can it be?!  100 posts already?!

And what better way to celebrate than featuring my hubby's new do!
After a two year long grow sess, mostly inspired by musician Dave Grohl's luscious mane... James decided, it was time.
Bu-bye hippy hair.
And so, The Beauty Parlour was paged and all the necessary arrangements made.

I call this: Dear In the Headlights
(pun intended)

James thought it fitting that at the exact moment of having his hair shampoo'd to be cut... a somewhat melancholy song could be overheard playing from the parlour speakers....

The kids getting their DS on while Daddy gets his hair did.
Those things sure do come in handy.

Aaron's exact comment "Dad!  You look younger!".
Rather handsome, I'd say.

Now about that beard........

Ta Da!

Voila-- the finished product of the hair/make-up/photography workshop Kirsten attended and I was lucky enough to model for.  Kirsten's one crazy artistic cat and has a passion for creative flair.

The bright and squirrely 'Before Shot'

(Trying to put on a straight face......... Ugh.)

After the 'Magic'.....

Sneak Peek

A teeny tidbit from a hair/make-up/photography class Kirsten attended and I modeled for about four weeks ago.  Us girls had some fun that day...

Maggie Walt's Hidden Gems Event

This past Friday, I had the opportunity to sit/model for Kirsten at a local fashion event 'The Beauty Parlour 'was participating in.  Basically, I sat on my butt and had a glass of wine while she demo'd different hairstyles using my mop of hair.  It was a pretty sweet couple of hours to myself and I always anticipate seeing what kind of crazy tricks Kirsten has up her sleeve.  For instance, she sewed me up one sexy updo using a plastic needle and some embroidery thread- no bobby-pins needed!  Who woulda thunk?!  It was a good time and best-of-all, I was sent home with runway-ready hair and free swag to boot.

Aaron's Beauty Parlour Experience

With Aaron starting Kindergarten next week, it was imperitive we have his overgrown goldie locks tended to at once.  Kirsten basically owns his head of hair, so it was only natural that we take a trip to her salon 'The Beauty Parlour', yesterday morning.  She's worked there now for over 3 months yet this was my first time visiting the salon (I know, shame on me).  It's a uniquely stylish place that could best be described as vintage glamourousIt also happened to be Kirsten's birthday so it was an extra nice visit.
Aaron was too funny getting his hair done.  Between the scalp massage, shampoo and haircut; his facial expressions were priceless!  Large mirror+little boy=funny faces!  When given the option to take it all off or keep his luscious long locks.... as always, he chose to keep it long.  What can I say!  The boy loves his curls (and so do I)!!
